GR-1124-6364, Hopkins and Allen Army Model Marked, XL #8, CAL WINCHESTER 1873, which means it was made for 44-40 and made late 1870’s through 1880’s, only a few hundred were made and considered secondary military, though no military contracts have been found. 50% original nickel with assorted scuffs, nicks, and minor scratches. Functional action with salt and pepper staining where nickel has been lost. The grip shows minor nicks and chips. The hard rubber grips show overall moderate wear. The bore is bright, shiny, crisply rifled with fine scattered spots and light residue. Very good bore as is and may clean better. 6 ½ inch barrel. 6 shot. Crisp tight mechanics. Very good to fine overall. We have only handled a handful of this model over the years. Difficult gun to find.
