GR-0824-6313, US Hall Model 1833 Percussion Carbine with ramrod bayonet, 1839 and contracted to Simeon North, marked, US, S. NORTH, MIDL TN, CONN, 1839, on the breech block. The carbine has visible cartouches on the left side of the stock and on the top spine near the butt plate, above that cartouche is the number 23. The Stock has been lightly cleaned and some oil was applied to preserve wood. The metal is mottled gray with overall moderate use marks to metal and wood. This model has the tool kit compartment with gate on the bottom spine of the stick. There are no tools in the compartment. It is a smooth bore in about .52 caliber. 26 3/16 in barrel. Ramrod bayonet is 25 ¼ inches long. Very good overall and very hard to find. This is also known as a Dragoon Carbine and the earliest percussion weapon and breech loader officially adopted by the US government. The bayonet feature is also an uncommon development in firearms. At the time of manufacture these were at the forefront of weapon development. Functional mechanics. The bore is bright, mostly shiny with some residue near the muzzle. Very good bore.
