GR79-0323-4628, Early Smith and Wesson .32 CF, with excellent quality engraving. The gun has a fine quality early 1900s factory refinish. There is a date stamped on the frame under the grips 2 – 39. S&W was stamping guns like this when they went back to the factory. It went back to the factory February 1939. The finish is so excellent that I believe the gun was refinished when it went back to the factory in 39. Was the engraving done at the factory? That I do not know for sure, I am not sure how many guns Smith & Wesson factory really did engrave. I tend to think it was probably engraved at a dealer and then sent to the factory for the refinish. The quality of the engraving is excellent. The grips are obviously S&W, they are old and absolutely beautiful with original grip medallions that show years of tarnish. It take a lifetime for brass build up crud and look like the medallions on the grips. There are flashes of bright case color on the hammer and trigger. Serial number 45,xxx matches on the frame, cylinder, barrel and latch. The bore is bright and shiny It comes in a fine quality dealer cardboard box. A very handsome gun. The cardboard box is in very good shape. Is it a dealer box or factory box from the 1930s, I am not sure. I do not believe it is from when the gun was originally made in the 1880s, but is has no label either so I am not sure what the box is exactly. Nonetheless, it is a nice box.
